Since 2009, the Women’s Philanthropy Institute has brought women together to pool their knowledge, perspectives, and resources to support organizations across Dallas.
Through this collective approach to grantmaking, members direct funding to nonprofits making meaningful progress on the issues that matter most to our community. Lead Grantee
POETIC
POETIC supports youth involved in the juvenile justice and child protective systems through integrated education, trauma therapy, art therapy, and paid internship opportunities.
Grant Amount: $150,000
Grant Purpose: POETIC used the funding to provide no-cost transportation for youth and families, as well as transportation for staff traveling to off-site programs. The goal was to increase participation, reduce absenteeism, and improve equitable access to services, education, and career-development opportunities.
The Senior Source
Grant Amount: $60,000
Overview: The Senior Source supports older adults and their families through programs and services focused on financial well-being, caregiving, connection, and healthy aging.
Community Does It
Grant Amount: $60,000
Overview: Community Does It uses community-based research and grassroots organizing to help residents identify and address public health priorities in Dallas communities.
Jewish Family Service
Grant Amount: $60,000
Overview: Jewish Family Service of Dallas provides comprehensive health services, resources, and support that promote well-being, independence, and self-sufficiency throughout all stages of life.
2024
Lead Grantee
Exodus Ministries
Exodus Ministries provides housing, supportive community, and life skills to help individuals and families break cycles of abuse, addiction, and incarceration and build stable, independent lives.
Grant Amount: $150,000
Grant Purpose: Exodus Ministries used the support to remove and replace the property-wide HVAC system. The goal was to provide a more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective system that would improve the environment for residents and reduce ongoing maintenance and repair needs.
Abide Women’s Health Services
Grant Amount: $60,000
Overview: Abide Women’s Health Services works to improve birth outcomes by providing accessible, holistic, evidence-based health care and supportive resources in communities with limited access to quality care.
Vogel
Grant Amount: $60,000
Overview: Vogel Alcove supports children and families experiencing homelessness through education, counseling, therapy, and other services designed to address trauma and strengthen family well-being.
Urban Specialists
Grant Amount: $60,000
Overview: Urban Specialists recruits, trains, and supports local leaders who work to strengthen their communities and create positive change through grassroots leadership and engagement.

The Bridge
The Bridge provides comprehensive services to help individuals experiencing homelessness access housing, health care, employment support, and other resources needed to achieve stability.
Grant Amount: $150,000
Grant Purpose: General operating support strengthened The Bridge’s ability to provide comprehensive services to people experiencing homelessness. The goal was to sustain access to shelter, housing, health care, employment support, and other resources that promote stability.
The Ebby House
Grant Amount: $50,000
Overview: The Ebby House provides housing and comprehensive support for young women who have experienced abuse, neglect, or foster care, helping them build life skills and transition to successful adulthood.
Frazier Revitalization
Grant Amount: $50,000
Overview: Frazier Revitalization works with residents and community partners to strengthen the Frazier neighborhood through collaborative efforts that improve access to transportation, health care, legal services, food, and youth programs.
VNA – Meals on Wheels
Grant Amount: $50,000
Overview: VNA Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals to Dallas County residents who cannot prepare or obtain food independently due to age, illness, or disability, supporting health and independence.
2022
Lead Grantee
New Friends New Life
New Friends New Life supports survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation with mental health, economic, and practical resources while advancing education, prevention, and policy change.
Grant Amount: $150,000
Grant Purpose: Support helped New Friends New Life expand its organizational capacity through 2025. The goal was to increase the organization’s ability to serve women and children affected by sex trafficking and exploitation while expanding access to comprehensive, long-term support.
Community Basket Mobile Farmers Market
Grant Amount: $50,000
Overview: Community Basket is a Southern Dallas mobile food initiative created through collaboration among Toyota, the University of North Texas at Dallas, and local partners to address food insecurity and support social mobility.
Mosaic Family Services
Grant Amount: $50,000
Overview: Mosaic Family Services provides culturally and linguistically responsive services to refugees, immigrants, and survivors of human rights abuses, helping clients access opportunities and build independence.
Braswell Child Development Center
Grant Amount: $50,000
Overview: Braswell Child Development Center provides early childhood care and education focused on learning, play, and development for children from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Jubilee Park
Jubilee Park & Community Center works with residents to strengthen the 62-block Jubilee Park neighborhood through programs focused on education, housing, workforce development, health, and community well-being.
Grant Amount: $150,000
Grant Purpose: The development of a new health clinic at Jubilee Park was the focus of this support. The goal was to expand access to convenient, community-based health care for residents and strengthen the neighborhood’s broader health and well-being.
G.E.M (Girls Embracing Mothers)
Grant Amount: $40,000
Overview: Girls Embracing Mothers passed its work to Janie’s Angels, which continues efforts to disrupt the cycle of incarceration for mothers and children affected by maternal incarceration.
Hope Supply Co.
Grant Amount: $40,000
Overview: Hope Supply Co. provides diapers and other essential items to children and families in need through a network of community partners, including shelters, hospitals, clinics, and food pantries.
Metrocare Services
Grant Amount: $40,000
Overview: Metrocare provides mental health, developmental disability, housing, and supportive services to children, adults, and families across Dallas County, including specialized programs for veterans and people with disabilities.
Act for Justice
Grant Amount: $40,000
Overview: Act for Justice works with residents and community partners to strengthen neighborhood safety by building relationships, connecting resources, and helping communities use the civil justice system.
COVID-19 Response Fund Grants
Funding was distributed equally among previous grantees to provide flexible support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants helped these organizations respond to urgent community needs, maintain essential services, and address the increased demand for support among the individuals and families they served.

Overview: Agape Clinic provides comprehensive medical and dental care to individuals and families who face barriers to health care, regardless of income or insurance status.

Healing Hands Ministries

Grant Purpose: After8toEducate directed this support toward its capital campaign to develop a shelter for unsheltered high school students. The goal was to expand safe housing and supportive services so students could achieve greater stability and remain engaged in school.

Overview: Vickery Trading Co. equips refugee women for long-term economic success through vocational training, personal development, employment opportunities, and fair wages.

Bonton Farms
Bonton Farms works to strengthen health, opportunity, and community well-being in the Bonton neighborhood through programs designed to address systemic inequities and support residents’ potential.
Grant Amount: $25,000
Grant Purpose: Funding supported a family housing unit, furniture for the community center and coffee house, and training for Latina women focused on wellness and cancer prevention. The goal was to strengthen Bonton Farms’ community infrastructure while expanding resources, educational opportunities, and support for women and families in the Bonton neighborhood.

Grant Amount: $10,000
Overview: Attitudes & Attire promotes personal growth for women seeking self-sufficiency. The program, provides the tools that raise self-esteem, promote ethics, and build the confidence necessary to develop successful life skills.
Educational First Steps
Grant Amount: $10,000
Overview: Educational First Steps strengthens early childhood education by supporting educators and child care centers with professional development, mentoring, and business resources, particularly in under-resourced communities.
Grant Haliburton Foundation
Grant Amount: $10,000
Overview: Grant Halliburton Foundation provides mental health education, training, and support for children, teens, young adults, families, educators, and professionals while working to prevent suicide.
Holocaust Museum
Grant Amount: $10,000
Overview: The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum educates visitors about the Holocaust and advances human rights by addressing prejudice, hatred, and indifference.

Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy
Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy develops young men as leaders through education and programs that support intellectual, moral, physical, social, and emotional growth.
Grant Amount: $10,000
Grant Purpose: Classroom technology and learning resources, including graphing calculators, flexible classroom seating, a printer, and related materials, were the focus of this support. The goal was to provide students and teachers with tools that strengthen instruction and support academic achievement.
Center for BrainHealth
Grant Amount: $10,000
Overview: Center for BrainHealth, part of The University of Texas at Dallas, conducts research and develops science-based programs to improve brain health, performance, and overall well-being.
Dallas Arboretum
Grant Amount: $10,000
Overview: The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden offers gardens, educational programs, events, and horticultural research that inspire curiosity, connection, and appreciation of the natural world.
Nexus Recovery Center
Grant Amount: $10,000
Overview: Nexus Family Recovery Center provides comprehensive substance use disorder treatment and supportive services for women and their children, helping families build healthy and resilient lives.

Interfaith Family Services helps working families achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency through transitional housing, career coaching, financial education, and supportive services designed to prevent homelessness and build financial security.
Grant Amount: $16,000
Grant Purpose: Support helped Interfaith Family Services carry out its Adopt-a-Family program, address resident needs, and strengthen general operations. The goal was to help working families meet immediate needs while building stability through housing and supportive services.
Children’s Health – School-based Telehealth Program
Grant Amount: $8,250
Overview: Children’s Health School-Based Telehealth Program provides students access to health care from school, helping children receive care without missing significant classroom time.
Bachman Lake Together
Grant Amount: $8,250
Overview: Bachman Lake Together works with families and more than 50 community partners to coordinate resources, strengthen relationships, and improve outcomes for children and families in Bachman Lake.
Resource Center
Grant Amount: $8,250
Overview: Resource Center provides affirming services and support for the LGBTQIA+ community and people living with HIV/AIDS, with a focus on health, well-being, and equality.
SPARK!
Grant Amount: $8,250
Overview: SPARK! provides hands-on, creative learning experiences for children and teens, offering workshops and activities that encourage self-expression, imagination, and creative development.

Canine Companions for Independence
Canine Companions provides trained service dogs to people with disabilities and facility dogs to professionals in settings such as health care, education, and criminal justice, at no cost to clients.
Grant Amount: $17,000
Grant Purpose: Canine Companions used the support for spay and neuter services for dogs in training, team training and graduation activities, and transportation for puppies. The goal was to help prepare service-dog teams and sustain the training pipeline that connects people with disabilities to highly trained assistance dogs.
Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual & Performing Arts
Grant Amount: $8,000
Overview: Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts is a Dallas ISD magnet school offering rigorous academic and arts education in the Dallas Arts District.
Momentous Institute
Grant Amount: $8,000
Overview: Momentous Institute combines education and mental health services to help children and families develop social-emotional skills and build healthier, happier lives.
Trinity Environmental Academy
Grant Amount: $8,000
Overview: Trinity Environmental Academy is a public charter school that uses the Great Trinity Forest and environmental education to support student learning and develop future environmental leaders.

Healing Hands Ministries, now HHM Health, provides comprehensive healthcare to individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds.
Grant Amount: $16,400
Grant Purpose: Funding provided dental equipment for Healing Hands Ministries. The goal was to expand access to dental care for children from low-income, uninsured, and underinsured families.
Brady Senior Center
Grant Amount: $8,200
Overview: Located inside the Marillac Community Center, Brady Senior Center provides services and programs for adults age 60 and older focused on health, wellness, social connection, and maintaining independence.
Letot Center
Grant Amount: $8,200
Overview: Letot Residential Treatment Center provides a safe, non-secure residential setting and comprehensive services for girls ages 13–17 who have experienced neglect, exploitation, or involvement with the juvenile justice system.
Klyde Warren Park

Overview: Klyde Warren Park is a public green space connecting Uptown, downtown, and the Arts District, providing a gathering place for recreation, community events, and family activities.

Lumin Education uses Montessori-inspired education to support children’s natural development and foster curiosity, independence, and academic growth.
Grant Amount: $12,060
Grant Purpose: Support helped advance Lumin Education’s East Dallas P-3 program, ABC Program, and facility and learning-equipment needs. The goal was to strengthen early childhood and elementary education while providing students and educators with the resources needed for effective learning.

Grant Purpose: The Bachman Early Childhood Education/School Readiness Initiative used this support during its final year to strengthen early learning and school readiness. The goal was to coordinate resources and improve opportunities for young children and families in the Bachman Lake community.

Overview: Big Thought provides arts education, out-of-school programming, social-emotional learning, youth justice, and learning systems that equip young people with skills for success.

Overview: Dallas Animal Services is the City of Dallas’s open-intake animal shelter, accepting animals in need from within city limits and providing shelter and care.
Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center
Grant Amount: $2,000
Overview: Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center brings together public and private partners to investigate and address child abuse while providing healing services and support for children and families.

Youth Village Resources of Dallas
Youth Village Resources of Dallas, now Youth With Faces, provides educational, vocational, and supportive programs for young people involved with Dallas County’s juvenile justice system.
Grant Amount: $13,400
Grant Purpose: Resources helped provide educational and workforce-development opportunities for young men served by Youth Village Resources of Dallas. The goal was to help participants complete computer and food-service training and build skills that could improve their employment prospects.

Grant Purpose: This investment supported the Children’s Food Program as part of the Jubilee Public Health Initiative. The goal was to help address childhood hunger and improve access to nutritious food for children and families in Jubilee Park.

Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School is a Dallas ISD public, all-girls college-preparatory school focused on academic achievement, leadership development, and STEM education.

Grant Purpose: Support focused on the Educational Enhancement Initiative, including the CollegeBound Program, Summer for Success!, and STEM Enhancement. The goal was to strengthen college readiness, academic enrichment, and STEM opportunities for students.
