Field of Interest Funds 

Field of Interest funds are offered in the spring. There are various funds that are available for a nonprofit's specific cause, including arts, critical needs, low-income clients, animal welfare and more. Click here to see recent grants awarded from Field of Interest Funds.

You may submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) for the fund that best fits your organization's focus areas.

Letters of Inquiry may be submitted between January 1 and the first business day of March for the following funds:

Jean Baptiste "Tad" Adoue, III Fund

Supports the arts in Dallas County
Grants from this fund tend to be for the performing and visual arts to honor the spirit of Mr. Adoue's gift. Grants for arts education are typically not considered.
$150,000 to $165,000 available to grant annually

Louis B. and Mary Ratliff Fund for Critical Needs

Helps provide basic necessities of life, including food, clothing, emergency and transitional shelter and medical care, to persons, particularly families, who are low-income, indigent, homeless or ill
$295,000 to $325,000 available to grant annually

Darwin and June Hodges Fund

Helps faith-based organizations providing assistance to disadvantaged children with food, clothing, shelter or healthcare needs
$3,500 to $4,500 available to grant annually

Annie L. Stevens Fund

Assists low-income older adults or disabled, abused, neglected or economically disadvantaged children
$200,000 to $250,000 available to grant annually

Elizabeth T. Robinson Fund

Assists children in need and older adults
$25,000 to $35,000 available to grant annually

Bertice Carter Speck Fund

Assists disabled, blind, deaf or economically disadvantaged children
$20,000 to $30,000 available to grant annually

Jalonick Family Memorial Fund-Breast Cancer

Assists agencies that provide medical care and supportive programs for low-income persons with breast cancer
$25,000 to $35,000 available to grant annually

Jalonick Family Memorial Fund-Domestic Violence

Assists children and adult victims of domestic violence
$25,000 to $35,000 available to grant annually

Jalonick Family Memorial Fund-Developmentally Disabled

Assists with the education of mentally handicapped and developmentally disabled children, to enable them to lead productive lives.
$25,000 to $35,000 available to grant annually

Morris Hartley Morgan, Jr. Fund

Assists low-income children who are suffering from debilitating diseases such as diabetes or cancer
$60,000 to $70,000 available to grant annually

Lucile W. and George R. Pattullo Fund

To assist African American citizens
$15,000 to $20,000 available to grant annually

Louis B. and Mary Ratliff Fund for Animal Welfare Fund

 Promotes the health and welfare of companion animals, including prevention of cruelty to animals; provision of veterinary care to animals whose owners cannot otherwise pay for their care; funding of spay and neuter programs; support of feral cat protection projects; creation and operation of sanctuaries for companion animals; promotion of responsible pet ownership; support of animal shelters; and promotion of the adoption of stray and unwanted animals
$295,000-$325,000 available to grant annually

Betty Pope Fund

To assist animals
$500 to $1,000 available to grant annually

Erin Wylie Fund

Promotes animal welfare and wildlife conservation and protection
$750 to $1,200 available to grant annually

James D. Webb Fund

For the research and cure of Parkinson's disease
$8,000 to $10,000 available to grant annually

Grant Restrictions

Field of Interest funds are generally not available for:

  • Organizations that have received grants from our Field of Interest funds or Community Impact funds within the preceding three years
  • Multi-year grants
  • Annual Fund campaigns, underwriting of fundraising events, and marketing campaigns
  • Religious purposes (although we do support educational and social service programs offered by faith-based organizations)
  • Organizations located outside Dallas County, unless more than 50 percent of the agency's clients served are residents of Dallas County
  • Debt retirement
  • Research
  • Endowments
  • Individuals
  • Start-up organizations
