Professional advisors are invited to attend our 26th annual Professional Advisor Seminar featuring keynote speaker, Miranda Reiter, Ph.D, CFP. Reiter will discuss Wealth Planning, Diversity, & the Racial Wealth Gap. The seminar will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Dr. Reiter is an assistant professor at Texas Tech University in the School of Personal Financial Planning. She began her career in the financial services industry in 2003 and has worked as a financial planner and banker at several Fortune 500 firms before her academic career. In addition to her career in financial services, Dr. Reiter has taught at several educational institutions in the U.S., France, and the Ivory Coast.

Dr. Reiter is a thought leader on diversity in financial planning and has recently given talks at the MIT AgeLab, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), and the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She helped develop the nation’s first certificate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the financial planning industry for NAPFA, which was released in May 2022.

Dr. Reiter has received recognition for her work in financial planning including: 2020 Omicron Nu Research Fellowship (Kappa Omicron Nu), 2020 Center for Financial Security Junior Scholar (University of Wisconsin-Madison), 2019 Financial Planning Association Best Research Award, 2019 40 Under 40 Award (InvestmentNews), and the 2018 Financial Planning Association Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship.

She earned her Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University. Her dissertation, “Racial and Gender Preferences When Hiring A Financial Planner: An Experimental Design on Diversity in Financial Planning” won the 2022 Robert O. Herrmann Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Academic Council on Consumer Interests (ACCI).

Her research on consumer finances and financial planning has been published in the Journal of Financial Planning and Counseling, Financial Planning Review, Family and Consumer Sciences Research Journal, Journal of Financial Planning, Journal of Personal Finance, and Journal of Financial Therapy.  Additionally, her financial advice has been quoted in popular media outlets such as the BBC, US News, USA Today, and Forbes. She is currently writing a personal finance audiobook which will be released in late 2022.
