Community Matters: Building Parks, Building Community

Expanding green spaces goes well beyond beautification, environmental benefits, and economic impact. Parks serve as a place to convene and connect with one another while in nature, a place to build community.

Four major park projects are currently underway across Dallas, each requiring both public and private dollars for completion. These communal spaces are being designed to provide access to inviting outdoor areas, and the health and recreation benefits typically associated with them. But how can these future green and open spaces also serve as a tool for neighbors to come together, share knowledge, and strengthen community and economic resiliency?

Hear from Chief Impact Officer Drexell Owusu in conversation with leaders from Fair Park First, Southern Gateway Park, Trinity Park and the Trust for Public Land, as they discuss how these additions to Dallas’ park infrastructure will provide new gateways to building community.

Panelists include:

  • Jason Brown, Board Member, Fair Park First
  • April Allen, President & COO, Southern Gateway Park
  • Tony Moore, President & CEO, Trinity Park Conservancy
  • Robert Kent, Associate Vice President, Texas State Director, Trust for Public Land
