At The Dallas Foundation, we believe strong communities begin with strong minds. We proudly partner with the Center for BrainHealth at The University of Texas at Dallas to advance research, innovation, and long-term well-being.
Through cutting-edge neuroscience research and community engagement, the Center transforms how people understand, measure, and strengthen brain health across the lifespan.
What Center for BrainHealth Does
The Center for BrainHealth leads brain performance research focused on helping people think, learn, and thrive. Its interdisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, and educators develops and delivers evidence-based strategies that strengthen higher-order reasoning, resilience, and cognitive performance.
The BrainHealth Project anchors much of this work. This large-scale scientific initiative measures and tracks brain health in adults ages 18 and older. Through an accessible online platform, participants assess their brain health, engage in training, and contribute data that helps researchers refine a new standard for defining and improving brain health at both individual and population levels.
The Center also brings neuroscience directly into the community. It hosts public lectures, collaborates with corporate partners, delivers youth programs, and offers digital tools that translate research into practical strategies people can use every day. By turning science into action, the Center connects discovery to daily life.
Why This Work Matters
Brain health shapes academic achievement, workplace performance, emotional resilience, and the ability to age well. For too long, many conversations have centered primarily on decline. The Center for BrainHealth reframes that conversation by emphasizing growth, adaptability, and lifelong development — shifting the focus from “brain drain” to “brain gain.”
As our population grows and ages, communities must prioritize brain health. Research, innovation, and accessible education in this field influence healthcare outcomes, workforce readiness, and overall quality of life. When individuals strengthen their cognitive performance, communities benefit.
Our Collaboration
The Dallas Foundation actively connects donors with the Center for BrainHealth to help accelerate its mission to translate brain science into meaningful impact.
Through donor-advised funds, foundation-directed grants, site visits, and educational events, we create opportunities for philanthropists to engage directly with the Center’s research and outreach initiatives.
One inspiring example is Kay Winzenried, a Foundation fundholder who deepened her involvement after attending lectures and participating in a site visit. When the Center sought philanthropic support to expand national awareness and outreach efforts, Kay stepped forward to help amplify its work. Her support and the support of other fundholders broaden participation in research initiatives, strengthen community engagement, and accelerate scientific discovery.
How to Support Center for BrainHealth’s Mission
Donors and fundholders can support the Center for BrainHealth through strategic grant recommendations, multi-year commitments, and investments in research, technology, and community engagement.
Philanthropic support helps expand participation in The BrainHealth Project, advance scientific discovery, and increase access to tools that empower individuals to strengthen their cognitive health.
Together, through partnerships like these, we are helping advance research that strengthens minds and expands opportunity for generations to come.
