For one Dallas resident, creating a legacy was about ensuring the causes they cared about most would continue to thrive for generations. He trusted The Dallas Foundation to help turn his vision into a plan that could make a lasting difference, honoring his intentions over time, even after he was gone.
He began by establishing a donor advised fund with a piece of farm land, the first step in building a legacy that would grow over time. Upon his passing, additional properties from his estate were added, ultimately creating one of the largest legacy gifts in The Dallas Foundation’s history.
Through his charitable legacy, three new endowed funds were established: a Field of Interest Fund, a Designated Fund, and a Scholarship Fund. Together, these funds reflect the donor’s broad vision for impact: guaranteeing annual support for eight favorite charities, opening doors for students pursuing education, and providing local nonprofits with opportunities to apply for funding in areas of greatest need.
The donor also chose to strengthen The Dallas Foundation’s Centennial Fund, helping to prepare Dallas for the challenges and opportunities of the next century.
Through thoughtful planning alongside the team at The Dallas Foundation, the donor’s legacy continues to make an impact on key causes, from food security and human services to green spaces and education, carrying their values forward for generations. Already, nonprofits across Dallas, including Mercy Street, Trinity Park Conservancy, Crossroads Community Services, and Jubilee Park & Community Center, are benefiting from this generosity.
The impact of this legacy is already being felt, and the donor’s vision lives on, strengthening the community and shaping the future for generations to come.
At The Dallas Foundation, we honor each donor’s preferences for recognition. You may choose to be celebrated publicly, remain anonymous during your lifetime, or carry your anonymity forward forever.
