Application and Selection

Awarding the Pegasus Prize

Applicants for the Pegasus Prize are evaluated on the creativity, feasibility, and measurable impact of their solutions, with an emphasis on approaches that are faster, more cost-effective, data-driven, and lead to better results for residents of Dallas County.

  • Applications are open to nonprofit organizations addressing community needs. Individuals are not eligible.
  • Applicants are not required to be located in Dallas County, but the project funded must benefit primarily residents of Dallas County.
  • Organizations of any age with new projects that are less than three years old may apply. We will consider funding both the testing of new ideas as well as innovations that are in the process of showing signs of effectiveness and have the potential for growth and/or greater results.
  • Organizations of any size may apply, but smaller, startup-style projects where a $50,000 award will make a significant impact are preferred.

The Dallas Foundation is committed to investing in bold, transformational solutions to the most pressing issues facing Dallas County. Projects can address any social problem in Dallas County. The Pegasus Prize serves as a testing ground for the next great idea. Organizations with novel or unconventional approaches are invited to apply.

  • The Pegasus Prize can be applied to project development as long as an implementation timeline is included with the application.
  • The award can support personnel, administration/overhead and any other expenses directly related to the project.
  • The Pegasus Prize cannot be applied to ongoing annual operating expenses of the organization or endowment funds.
